Graduating senior student Harris Bolus (member of the Chtarbanova Lab since spring 2018) is the first author of a collaborative review article in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences that discusses the modeling of neurodegenerative diseases and neuroregeneration in the common fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster. In the Chtarbanova lab, Harris’ work focused on studying the genetic mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration. Together with two other undergraduate students, Harris co-authored another research article in the Journal of Visualized Experiments on methods used to study neurodegeneration in Drosophila. In addition to communicating his work at on-campus events, Harris was also selected to present at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.
