This year Dr. Jane Rasco and Jim Rasco have established the The Jane and Jim Rasco Endowed Scholarship in Biology. The scholarship shall be awarded based on the following criteria: Priority of consideration shall be given to sophomore students who are enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, are majoring in biology, who have maintained between a 3.2 and a 3.6 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and who are residents of the state of Alabama. The purpose of this endowment is to encourage and give support to high-performing students whose substantial academic merit is not well reflected in their college grade point average.
The scholarship may be renewable for each of the subsequent years of a recipient’s undergraduate education provided the scholarship committee deems the recipient’s performance and academic progress satisfactory and provided the recipient continues to major in biology. If a student cannot be identified that meets the above criteria, the scholarship committee will strive to find a suitable candidate that best matches the Donor Representative’s intent. The donors request that $5,000 be awarded annually to one student who meets the criteria listed above.
The Department expresses its utmost gratitude to Dr. Jane Rasco and Jim Rasco.
