The laboratory of Guy and Kim Caldwell and collaborators at Harvard University have discovered that the protein torsinA, mutations which are implicated in dystonia, participates in protein folding in the endoplasmic reticulum. This finding has implications for other genetic diseases, including cystic fibrosis.
