Congratulations to Kieran McKeag, a MS student in the Ferguson lab! He is on the UA Track and Field team, and at a competition Saturday he threw 71.53 meters in hammer throw. This was the best mark by a collegian in the men’s hammer, ranking him third nationally!

An exhibit at the Alabama Museum of Natural History about Alabama state symbols features research conducted by Dr. Paige Ferguson and her graduate student Franco Gigliotti. Their research examined the influence of habitat management on food availability for the red-cockaded woodpecker. The museum exhibit also features a paper they recently published that reviewed the effectiveness of different conservation methods across the red-cockaded woodpecker’s range.
