Amelia Ward received a Ph.D. in Limnology from Michigan State University in 1978. She was appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama in 1981. Dr. Ward has been a Professor since 1994 and also serves as Director for the Center for Freshwater Studies at the University of Alabama.

Research Interests

Freshwater microbial ecology with emphasis on primary and secondary productivity of algae and bacteria, nutrient cycling, and interactions of microbiota with other trophic levels in lakes, streams, thermal springs, river floodplains, and wetlands.
